Arizon Partners with 7-ELEVEN to Unveil Taiwan’s First RFID-Enabled X-Store

2020/12/10

TAIPEI, Taiwan – December 10, 2020 – Arizon, a leading global RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) manufacturer and a subsidiary of the YFY Group, today signaled its strong optimism for the domestic smart retail sector by announcing a landmark partnership with Taiwan’s premier retailer, 7-ELEVEN. The collaboration culminates in the launch of the first RFID-enabled X-STORE (Future Store), which officially opened this weekend in Taichung utilizing Arizon’s advanced sensing checkout system.

This strategic move coincided with Arizon’s return to Taiwan, where it established the nation’s largest RFID manufacturing facility in Tucheng. The new plant, scheduled for completion next week (December 18th), will serve as the company's third factory across the strait and its first in Taiwan, initially planning to produce 1 billion RFID tags annually.

Strengthening the Global Supply Chain

Arizon’s expansion into Taiwan directly addresses two critical industry trends: the acceleration of the 5G and IoT (Internet of Things) era, and the global supply chain shift from massive division to localized, short-chain supply. By establishing the Tucheng factory, Arizon can better facilitate proximity to regional customers and enhance overall supply chain resilience.

Revolutionizing Smart Retail with the X-STORE

The newly opened 7-ELEVEN X-STORE in Taichung showcases the transformative potential of RFID in smart retail, with Arizon providing the necessary tags and software infrastructure.

The store, which stocks over 10,000 items, including microwave food, tags all products with Arizon RFID inlays. This enables customers to simply place their items in the sensing area during checkout. The system automatically reads the list and displays the price in less than one second, completing the entire transaction in under 10 seconds. This capability fulfills the promise of "pay quickly, take it and go," making the convenience store truly convenient.

The RFID Advantage: Speed and Accuracy

Arizon executives highlighted that RFID achieves automatic data collection through the interconnected technology of tags and readers. Unlike traditional one-by-one barcode scanning, RFID excels in:

  • Distance Sensing: Reading tags from a distance.

  • Data Volume: Handling large amounts of data.

  • Speed and Accuracy: Delivering faster and more reliable results.

This "group reading" capability allows consumers to bypass the traditional manual scanning process, significantly improving retail efficiency and the overall customer experience.

Arizon has partnered with 7-ELEVEN to create the RFID-enabled store of the future, all items are attached with RFID tags.
